Ok I know the title sounds controversial, there are c.1.2Billion cars in the world (give or take a few) so any thoughts about banning a motor is pretty much not an option.
As human beings we accept ‘Risk v Benefit’ as part of our lives.
We have the ability to learn, develop and improve our environment and to that end cars have come a long way since the first Model T rolled of the production line back in October, 1908. Since then the car has developed exponentially over the years.
If we think simply in terms of safety; we have seen the development of crumple zones, 3-point seat belts, anti-lock braking systems, airbags, advanced tyre technology and from an environmental perspective, we have catalytic converters, reduced emissions, leaner & cleaner engines, hybrids and so on - We continue to see technological advances almost daily.
Consider then the comparisons to a modern day development; the humble USB drive.
How many of those do you think are in circulation?
Like the car, USB storage drives have come a long way. Even in their short lifespan, with ever increasing storage capacity, like the car, significant improvements to safety (in this case data protection) options exist now to fully secure the data in the event of a loss or theft.
The moral to this story is simple…
Once something becomes universally accepted and integrated into our lives there is no point in fighting it, but rather adopting the latest technology to provide safe and secure usage, providing the benefits while mitigating the risk!
